It is preferred that all weapons be clear of non-period markings (i.e. de-farbed) and, if applicable, weapons are to have correct arsenal marks.

Note: Pistols are for officers only.

Firearms

A.   Model 1855 Rifle Musket (preferred)
B.   Model 1842 Smoothbore
C:   Model 1861 Rifle Musket

Note: The Model 1855 Rifle Musket was the weapon most issued to California Column troops and thus it is the preferred weapon.
However, understanding that most Civil War re-enactors do not purchase the M1855 Springfield for their primary impressions it is
not mandatory.
Because no foreign weapons were issued to California troops use of the P1853 Enfield is strongly discouraged.

Bayonet scabbard

A.   U.S. M1857 Scabbard, with blackened white buff frog, sewn with no rivets
B:   U.S. M1857 Scabbard, with blackened, sewn with no rivets
C:   U. S. M1861 Scabbard, blackened, sewn with two rivets.

Bayonet

Bayonet should match the weapon being carried.

Weapon Tools

Any tools that are carried should match the weapon.
